How's into animal prints ?

I am ! Either in Interiors or in Fashion, I think they're much more neutrals than we think, and so versatile !

This trend finds its roots back in the 18th century when colonisation popularised leopard, tigers, zebras’ skins and turned these patterns into classics. They have inspired many Interior and Fashion designers: almost every Fashion Week now has its share of animal print.

The trend has recently known a new surge. Especially since the organisers of Frankfurt major trade show TENDENCE defined Africa Chic as “one of the biggest trends in interior design over the following seasons” in 2011.

One of the main reasons this trend keeps coming back is its versatility. Animal prints are like neutrals (beige, white, brown, black colours …): they can be incorporated in basically any decor and look fantastic in contemporary interiors.

They bring a wild whimsical yet classic and sophisticated look into a space, though furnishings, furniture, or even floors or walls. Even just a leopard or dalmatian pillow can add a touch of glamour to a room.

I had to create a board to illustrate a trend in Interior Design for my course, so I had a lot of fun putting together this inspirational board.

I don't have enough animal prints in my home, that's definitely something I should look into when I switch things a bit for Spring. What do you think: love or hate ?
